Grave of a "non-conformist" Baptist in a Welsh graveyard. Notice the mention of the Second Coming. The Welsh Baptists were called "non-conformists" because they were not connected with the Church of England or the Papacy. Their ancestry is traceable to the primitive church of Britain and Europe. Most had lost the 7th-day Sabbath through the centuries of persecution. They laid a strong foundation for the Baptist congregations of North America. Those among them that kept the Sabbath became known as the 7th-day Baptists.
