Kirghiz Nestorian Christians




Frunze, Kirghistan, formerly the Soviet Union. Kirghiz guides display one of hundreds of Christian grave stones found in ancient Nestorian Christian cemeteries. The names and occupations of the deseased inscribed on these grave stones reflect the vast influence and ethnic variety of the church of the East as late as the 13th and 14th centuries.
